RESOLUTIONS FOR 2018

Now, I know I’m a bit late to the party here, as it is pretty near to the end of January now! But, in previous years I have normally failed my new years resolutions by the end of January, so I’ve been thinking throughout this month as to what I really want to be different for this year.

The first thing I’d like to change this year is my fashion. Now I’m not completely remodelling my style, but I want to start wearing items that I wouldn’t normally and to feel comfortable in them! I’ve always felt like the newest trends and styles wouldn’t suit me and I’m definitely not a crop-top kinda girl, so it’s more looking past another stripy top on the rails in a shop and finding different items to give my wardrobe more variety.

The next thing I’d like to do this year is swim more, which is ‘typical January diet’ style I know. But since September 2017, I’ve really started to get back into swimming (thanks to a new swimming pool at Uni and finding a cheap membership before they all ran out). Over time, I’ve learnt that gyms aren’t necessarily the best place for my mindset, as I always feel behind everyone else in terms of progress. However, I love swimming and setting my own goals doesn’t feel like a chore, so this year I want to swim more, hoping that I can become fitter and better my technique in time.

Finally, I would like to think more about the environment this year and make simple changes which can contribute to a better planet. I really enjoyed watching Blue Planet II last year and think it raised such awareness to what we are doing to the planet and I’m not an expert when it comes to this, but I want to learn how we can contribute towards a better planet for the future. I’ve simply started by taking a reusable flask and reusable water bottle to University every day and trying to recycle more than I had done previously. Hopefully, over the year I will learn more, and this will mean that I can make better changes to my lifestyle.

I think having three main changes/resolutions for the year are a good place to start as I’m really ready to enjoy this year and appreciate the experiences I am able to have.
